All-Ukrainian dictation of unity at the Carpathian National University

Today, on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, the All-Ukrainian Dictation of Unity was held at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University – a large-scale event that united students, teachers, scientists, military personnel, and notable figures from the Carpathian region in their love for their native language.

The dictation was held in a mixed format and was joined online by several hundred participants from the KNUVD.

The author of the dictation text was Ukrainian writer Yevheniya Kuznetsova, and it was read by famous actress Natalia Sumska.

The latter added drive to the participants, as many of them recalled that in the age of computer technology, it had been a long time since they had held a pen in their hands and written on paper, because writing quickly was a bit difficult.

Before the dictation, the acting rector of the KNUVD, Ihor Tsependa, greeted everyone: “This is a special event in the life of every Ukrainian. After all, this is not just a test of language knowledge, but first of all a reminder of how important the Ukrainian language is for each of us. If we look back at our history, we will see that the language was and remains the driving force of our development, a symbol of unity and a return to our own roots. For centuries, our ancestors, despite numerous trials, persecutions and attempts to destroy the Ukrainian elite, did everything possible so that the language not only lived, but also developed. And today our task is to continue this work: to make the Ukrainian language even richer, brighter, so that its sound reaches far beyond the borders of Ukraine. We strive for the Ukrainian language to be studied with interest all over the world – as a key to understanding our great culture, history and spirituality.”

The initiator of writing a dictation within the walls of our university is Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Literature Olga Derkachova.

This year, it was moderated by Halyna Voloshchuk, director of the Center for Professional Career and Education, associate professor of the Department of Philology of the Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute.

“I am glad to welcome you! We are once again writing the Radio Dictation of National Unity together – together with students, scientists, military personnel and famous people of the Carpathian region – within the walls of our university. I wish everyone inspiration, concentration and love for their native language. May this day once again remind us that the Ukrainian language is what unites us, inspires and strengthens our national unity,” noted Halyna Voloshchuk.

Also joining the words of congratulations was Lesya Korolyk-Boyko, Honorary Ambassador of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ambassador of Ukrainian Culture and Art, Ambassador of Peace, Ambassador of Ukrainian Song in the World, cultural and public figure.

The event also included an award ceremony for the winners of the flash mob competition “Language is a Weapon”, which once again proved that the Ukrainian word has the power to inspire, unite, and protect.

Traditionally, the text of the dictation will be published on October 29 on the organizers’ official websites. Participants will be able to participate in the writing both online and offline.

Paper works will be accepted at the address: Kyiv, Khreshchatyk St., 26 (the stamp must be dated no later than October 28).

Scanned or photographed texts in jpg, png, jpeg, tiff, pdf formats can be sent by 11:00 on October 29 to the organizers’ email address.
