
On October 20, scientific and pedagogical workers of the Carpathian National University, together with higher education students, immersed themselves in understanding the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational activities, taking into account the principles of academic integrity. On the basis of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, at the initiative of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional branch of the NGO “Innovative University”, workshop participants exchanged experiences in popularizing academic integrity and the use of AI. The event was attended by employees of the economic, pedagogical and tourism faculties of the KNUVS together with higher education students, the head of the educational and methodological department Iryna Solonets, the Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists Taras Paska.
The event was moderated by Teodozia Yatsyshyn, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk branch of the Innovation University NGO, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of IFNTUH.
The speakers considered the problem of using AI while maintaining academic integrity: Serhiy Zikratyy, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of IFNTUNG, spoke on the topic “AI in Higher Education Institutions – Global Trends”; Lydia Davybida, Acting Head of the Education Quality Assurance Department of IFNTUNG, reported on “Integrity Policy as the Basis for Implementing AI in Higher Education Institutions (IFNTUNG Example)”; Maryan Slabinoha, Head of the Digitalization Department of IFNTUNG, argued about the need for “Transformation of Teaching and Assessment Methods in the Era of Large Language Models”.
The practical session “Decisions Workshop”, conducted by Serhiy Zikratyy, Maryan Slabinoha, and Halyna Hrytsulyak, took place in the format of a world cafe with the participation of 4 teams created from workshop participants.
Based on the results of the practical part, a checklist for the honest use of AI was formed. The participants of the event had the opportunity to exchange live the principles of implementing academic integrity in their universities. The continuation of the study of such a relevant topic is planned to be held in November at the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
